With the mission of creating a shell chair with a more unified look that would stand as one cohesive unit, Simon Legald has created the Form Chair for Normann Copenhagen. To achieve this seamless, integrated look, a new and innovative solution for gathering the seat with the legs has been developed. The curved plastic seat and frame of oak, walnut or steel are naturally integrated with the seat using a unique cup system. The plastic seat and wood or steel legs meet elegantly, accentuating the high quality craftsmanship and the simplicity of the Scandinavian furniture design.Form is a modern armchair with a minimalistic expression. With its simple and contemporary design Form Armchair has a soft and welcoming silhouette and a distinctly residential look. The legs appear almost as if they are growing out of the shell. This gives the design flexibility and makes it possible to vary the frame in a great number of ways, accommodating a vast number of interiors. The Form Armchairs have great back support and provide freedom of movement while the armrests provide extra room for relaxation. The strong materials and contoured shape ensures a comfortable seating experience. Combined with a clean design, that makes Form a flexible and functional chair for any room, for example as an office chair, a dining chair or occasional chair.
Simon Legald
Simon Legald graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in the summer of 2012. His work consists of both small- and large scale products. Simon's designs are often created in a dialogue between craftsmanship and industry. He also likes to incorporate the techniques that are necessary for the structure of a product into the design by highlighting them visually.
"Honesty is what makes a product understandable and is what describes the products functionality. If you understand the product, it does not need any explanation. The essence of my design is for it to be bought and used. Therefore, it has to satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological and aesthetic needs. For me simplicity describes the true identity of objects and makes them trustworthy. In my design, I try not to add any unnecessary details. I work with simplicity by highlighting the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest expression."
